What Avenger I Am

Author’s Note: I wrote about the Avengers because I like the movie

If I could be any Avenger super hero I would choose to be Hawk Eye. I think that the assassins are the best because they are secret and sneaky so they do not get in many fights. His main weapon is the bow and arrow. I think that is really cool because I love to hunt and use a bow. My best fit of an Avenger would be Hawk Eye.

The Magical Three Wishes

Author's Note: In my short story I wrote about if I had three wishes and why I would choose them.

Imagine you get three wishes and you can wish for anything. What would you wish for? First I would wish that i was the richest person in the world so I could take care of my family, friends, and strangers that need help. Then I would want to be able to end all sickness because so many people in this world have died from a form of sickness. My last wish would be that I could own the NBA and the MLB because basketball and baseball are my favorite sports and enjoy to watch those two sports.

Semantic Devices

My Ultimate Dream Vacation

Author's Note: I wrote about my ultimate vacation because I really like to go on vacations and I wanted to tell you what my dream vacation is.

If I could go anywhere I wanted to for my dream vacation I would go to the Bahamas or somewhere in the Caribbean. In the Caribbean it is very hot and tropical. I would not want to go somewhere where it is cold because i love the warmth. In the Bahamas there is so much stuff to do such as tanning, swimming, and snorkeling. That’s just a couple of activities you can do in the Bahamas. After the Bahamas I would want to go to Italy because my great great grandpa lived there and other people I am reated to live in Italy. When I'm in Italy I would go see the Colosseum because I like to learn about the history about that amazing building. Also I would go to the island of Cicily and go swimming on the beach.

The Wolf Dog of Canada

Authors Note: I wrote about the book “White Fang” by Jack London because I really like the way he writes. The main character was faced with a lot of bullying and out casting.

He moved swiftly through the forest dodging every tree and stick on the moist ground. He could hear the panting from the big fat rabbit trying to escape the intelligent wolf dog. The rabbit ran out of the forest to find a huge wall of stone when all of a sudden White Fang trotted out of the tree line growling and showing his sharp white teeth. As he got closer he pounced on the rabbit and ripped at his throat until the small mammal was dead. When he was marching back to his cave he found an Indian tribe who took him to be trained for a sled dog.

That was the beginning scene in “White Fang”. Jack London the author tells the story in the dog’s point of view which gives us a look how animals view humans.
When White Fang was in the Indian tribe he was considered as an outcast. The bullying from the other dogs in the tribe made the wolf dog a strong, smart, and cunning dog. Every day the other dogs would challenge White Fang to a battle and most the time won but slowly but surely White Fang would win the battle in other words he eliminated the competition. Eventually not even the biggest and strongest dogs would dare to confront him for a fight.

Bullying these days can do a lot of damage too many people, not just the person you’re doing it to. Almost 30 percent of teens in the United States are estimated to be involved in school bullying. That’s over 5.7 million people getting treated like White Fang and sometimes worse then what he received. Many schools around the USA are making ABC’s which stand for anti bully clubs. These clubs help the people who are getting bullied and stop the bullies from harming the kids. The biggest reasons why bullies bully is because they have low self-esteem and there is something wrong with their families.

White Fang was sold by his Indian owner because he had no money for his family. This cruel man named Beauty Smith was the man who bought the dog but he didn’t want him for a pet he wanted him for a fighting dog. He was the best fighting dog in the Yukon Territory so the men nicknamed him the “Fighting Wolf”. All this fighting made White Fang a very mean, frighten, and ferocious dog. When he was fighting he fell and the other dogged clamped on White Fang’s neck. These two men came in and saved White Fang from his death. The men thought he could never be trained like a normal dog but eventually they were able to have the dog sit on their lap and be around the whole family.

The book shows that anyone who was bullied and is scared can be formed back to their regular personality. All in all we need to stop bullying from happening in the first place because the book “White Fang” shows exactly what will happen if people get bullied.

Alaska’s Hunt for Oil

Author's Note: I wrote about the debate in Alaska deciding if the US should drill for oil there because I do not want them to drill there and wanted to tell people why they shouldn't.

The Alaskans should defend and keep their land safe from the drillers searching for oil. It is their land and they should protect it and not let drillers destroy the wildlife. Many animals such as polar bears, black bears, grizzlies bear, wolves, caribou, seals, whales, and plenty more animals would get kicked out of their homes and be forced to live somewhere else. Imagine having random strangers come to your house and just kick you out and say it’s theirs now and leave you to go find a new house.

There is a big debate whether we should drill in Alaska or not. The ANWR which stands for Arctic National Wildlife Refuge is the land that protects and lets the animals breed and repopulate the earth. Many natives do not want to have them because they think Alaska would get no profit out of the oil and just destroy the land. It would be a bad plan to drill in the Arctic Refuge because it would take up almost 20 million acres of wildlife land.

Scientist have researched and found that if they drilled in the refuge they would only gain 4% of imports. From all that work and destruction of the wildlife we would roughly get six months worth of oil. Six months isn’t worth the demolition of the ANWR. If they started to drill in the Arctic Refuge that means they would have to bring in so much equipment through the land which means ripping up the small trees and luscious grass. Also studies show that if they drill there will be massive loads of sludge and grime wandering threw the majestic fields in Alaska.

Some Scientist have said that there is a good chance of what happened in the Gulf of Mexico with the oil spill, another catastrophe. In this disaster eleven people died, 26,000 marine mammals, and almost 81,000 birds were killed or damaged in the spill. That could happen in Alaska but even more mammals and birds have a higher chance to get injured or at the worst killed.

We should stop and protect the land from the people from drilling in Alaska. Most people will not like the fact that we are ruining an amazing state for such a little income. The animals deserve this land and not be taken away like we have done a lot already. The state of Alaska is a gorgeous place and should be kept for the animals to reproduce and live in peace.
